Welcome to Sarah J. Anderson Elementary, home of the Pioneers! We are a school with wonderful diversity of languages and cultures and a place where student learning is at the center of all that we do. As the site of the district’s Dual Language Program, almost half of our classes are taught bilingually in Spanish and English. We have hardworking, dedicated staff, families and community members, and it is indeed a privilege to work with everyone on behalf of our students.

We are a No Excuses University school, and that means our staff, students and families are committed to giving our students the foundation they need to be ready for college and careers. Our focus, as an NEU school, is on building a culture of universal achievement. We became a part of the No Excuses University network of schools in fall 2013, and the college theme is evident throughout the school. Come by any morning and hear our students start their day with the Pledge of Allegiance, their college chant and their commitment to success!

In 2015, we had the distinction of being named Washington’s only recipient of the Innovative Schools Designation. This award was given on the basis of several school strengths, including creativity, best practices, increasing student achievement, collaboration with parents and community and high staff morale. It is an honor to be recognized for these things that the Anderson staff and parents represent so well!

We are excited to continue to grow and learn ourselves and to work hard on behalf of the students we serve. Go, Pioneers!
